ECW part 3

These pictures are of a siege game that we played a couple of years ago.

ECW part 2

ECW

ECW is a big love and my 28mm collection started in the early 1980's with the release of the Essex Miniatures range and the Foundry / Perry range.

Napoleonic Wars 15mm

Some Peninsula British.

Napoleonic Wars 15mm

These pictures are of a ficticious 1814 Austro Russian Vs French game. After this I came to the conclusion that the 6' x 9, table was too small.

Napoleonic Wars 15mm style

Leading on from my childhood I collected a large army of plastic Airfix Napoleonics. These plastics were added to with a fairly large contingent of Hinton Hunt metals. About 15 years ago I came to the conclusion that I was going nowhere with these 20mm armies, despite having about 3000 figures plus guns, wagons, etc.

So I sold them and spent the money on 15mm Essex Napoleonics. I then proceeded to try and make myself blind by painting the figures as quickly as possible. This process was helped by a few descisions. Firstly paint lots of figures in great coats!!!! Secondly use a spray can to undercoat the figures in their primary colour. For example Austrians white, Great coat French in grey, etc. Lastly I decided to paint them as I had painted the 20mm figures all those years before. So instead of worrying about face and uniform details everything was block painted and gloss varnished. This all worked very well although I would not be entering them in any painting competitions.

The following few posts are from some recent games played over the past few years.
